Enna Deer is Barbi Reed's pseudonym for her art work. These two series were created as part of on-going work centered around children's toys and games.
Something is very amiss as a chess knight finds himself on the wrong game board. In his own game, he is agile, clever, powerful as he darts across the squares. However, in this series knight is clearly out of place. His plight symbolizes being in the wrong place at the wrong time or simply somewhere drastically unfamiliar. Although maintaining a semblance of composure, the knight appears awkward, lost. It is easy not only to relate to the knight's plight and discomfort, but to wonder what circumstances caused him to stray from his familiar home board. Can we draw parallels to our own lives?
